Friends of Scouting Distinguished Citizen Events

For generations, Scouting has transformed the lives of thousands of youth here in the Bay Area Council, Scouting America.  Scouting is made possible through the generosity of volunteers, families, members of our community, and companies who all believe that a strong foundation of character and leadership developed in youth, leads to stronger more productive lives.

There are many ways that you can participate in this campaign, either as a fundraising volunteer, by making a gift to our Friends of Scouting, or by being an ambassador of Scouting using your network of community friends. Every dollar raised stays local for the support of youth in our local communities.

You have the opportunity to impact a program that has shaped the lives of youth, preparing them for life, for well over a century.

Friends of Scouting is the Bay Area Council’s annual campaign for individuals and companies to make a 100% tax-deductible gift to support Scouting programs. 

Your investment in this campaign is making a lasting difference in the lives of families and helping shape the next generation of leaders. Through your generous support, the Bay Area Council provides life-changing Scouting opportunities to youth throughout our community at an average cost of $500 per Scout each year. Contributions help provide financial assistance to families, support the operation of Camp Karankawa, our premier outdoor learning facility, and maintain the resources and infrastructure needed to deliver high-quality Scouting programs that prepare youth for life.

Matching Gifts: Many corporations match employee contributions made to Scouting America. Some companies even make financial contributions for volunteering time to Scouting. Check with your employer to see if your time and contribution could be matched!
